COVID-19 patients top 10,000; 4,282 recoveries
According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients detected in the county has been increased to 10,105 by 8 p.m. yesterday.
The Epidemiology Unit sources said that around 4,282 of them have recovered while 5,490 remain in hospitals.
Meanwhile, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOPCO) yesterday stated that around 11,773 PCR tests were carried out across the country on Thursday (29) morning and the total number of PCR tests conducted so far stands at 490,563.
According to NOPCO sources, 584 quarantined individuals left for their homes after PCR tests. Of them, 71 persons are from the Norochcholai QC, five persons from Hotel Green Paradise QC, four persons from Hotel Jetwing Blue QC, seven persons from Hotel Jetwing Beach QC, 161 persons from the Punani QC, 125 persons from the Bingiriya Teachers’ Training School QC, 97 persons from the Pasdunrata Teachers’ Training School QC, five persons from the Waskaduwa Citrus QC, 41 persons from the MRS Diyatalawa QC, 23 persons from the MSTS Diyatalawa QC and 45 persons from 1 GW Diyatalawa QC.
To-date, 59,314 individuals have left for their homes after quarantining. As of yesterday morning (30), 6,463 persons are still under quarantine in 64 Tri-Services managed QCs. By 6.a.m. yesterday(30), 67 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. All of them are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at various QCs.
