Nearly 30,000 recover from COVID-19
The total number of COVID-19 positive patients directed in the country reached 38,059 yesterday, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry stated. Around 29,882 of them have recovered while 7,994 remain in hospitals.
The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 34,377. Meanwhile, 25, 892 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from fish market cluster (31,318) have been discharged from hospitals.
By yesterday morning, 618 recovered patients had left hospitals and care centres. The COVID 19 deathtoll of the country remained at 183 yesterday morning with seven deaths reported from Welikada Prison, Dharga Town, Colombo 7, Colombo 10, Colombo 15, Maggona and Dankotuwa areas.
By yesterday morning (23), the flight UL 104 from the Maldives with 14 passengers, QR668 from Qatar with 20 passengers, 6E 9034 from India with 14 passengers, UL 218 from Qatar with four passengers, UL226 from UAE with 44 passengers, and UL 1365 with five passengers from Indonesia have arrived. Flight UL 1041 from India with 38 passengers, UL102 from the Maldives with one passenger, UL 190 from Bangladesh with 25 passengers, UL303 from Singapore with 10 Passengers, UL 881 from China with four Passengers, EK 468 from UAE with 16 passengers and EY264 from UAE with 50 passengers are expected to arrive here within the day. The passengers were to be referred to Quarantine Centers (QCs), managed by Tri-Services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.
As of yesterday morning (23), 6,292 persons in 72 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. On Tuesday (22), 11,672 PCR tests were conducted.
