COVID recoveries reach 30,000 mark

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka crossed 30,000 mark yesterday.

According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit, the total number of Coronavirus recoveries reported in the country increased to 31,339.

The total number of COVID positive cases detected from the country reached 39,231 and 8,478 of them are still under medical care.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 35, 526. Meanwhile, 27,160 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from fish market (32,467) clusters have been discharged from hospitals.

By yesterday morning (25), 771 recovered patients left hospitals and care centres. The COVID 19 death toll in the country rose to 185 by yesterday morning (25) with another death reported from Agalawatte.

As of yesterday morning (25), flight QR 668 from Qatar with 21 passengers, UL 607 from Australia with 70 passengers, UL 605 from Australia with 123 passengers and UL 455 from Japan with seven passengers had arrived. UL 226 from UAE with 287 passengers, UL 102 from Maldives with a passenger, UL 1,208 from Italy with 27 passengers, UL 320 from Malaysia with 12 passengers, MU 231 from China with 77 passengers and SQ 468 from Singapore is expected to arrive here within the day. The passengers were to be referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by Tri-Services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport. As of yesterday morning (25), 6,457 persons in 76 Tri Service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Around 13,853 PCR tests had been conducted on Thursday.
