- Famed economist Mohamed El-Erian said in a Thursday interview that he doubts the overall valuation of US tech companies.
- While he accepted that their robust balance sheets and positive cash flow will ensure continued outperformance, he said he doesn't know "whether the valuation still makes sense to tell you the truth."
- El-Erian's comments came a day after congressional testimony from CEOs of Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and Alphabet to address how they are handling antitrust challenges.
- The economist also said the latest US GDP data points to worrying signs of "leveling off" as there are continuous disagreements over what to do with the next COVID-19 relief package.
