West Bengal Announces Complete Lockdown Till May 30, Know What's Open And Closed

<p><strong>Kolkata:</strong> In a bid to battle the deadly Coronavirus wave, West Bengal Govt has announced fresh restrictions till May 30 after the state recorded the highest single-day surge. The Mamata Banerjee government announced the complete lockdown for 14 days starting tomorrow.</p> <h3>What Will Open and What Will Be Closed:</h3> <ul> <li>Industries and factories to remain shut.</li> <li>Inter-state trains, buses and metro services to remain shut.</li> <li>All gatherings, including religious gatherings, to be prohibited.</li> <li>Tea gardens to operate with 50% of workforce.</li> <li>Jute mills to operate with 30% of the workforce.</li> <li>Schools, colleges and all education facilities to remain shut</li> <li>Retail shops to remain open only till 7 am till 10 am.</li> <li>Sweets and meat shops allowed to remain open from 10 am to 5 pm.</li> <li>Medical shops and optical shops will remain open as usual.</li> <li>Private cars, taxis exempted from emergency essential services.</li> <li>Goods carrier to remain suspended except for medical and food services</li> <li>All political, entertainment, cultural, religious gathering prohibited.</li> <li>All industries and manufacturing units will remain closed except for food and medical supplies and medical packaging services.</li> <li>Parks and zoos will remain closed.</li> <li>Shopping complexes, malls, restaurants, salons, gyms, swimming pools will remain closed.</li> <li>Essential emergency services will be allowed to function.</li> </ul> <p>West Bengal on Friday registered its highest single-day spike of 20,846 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 10,94,802, the health department said in its bulletin.</p> <p>The toll rose to 12,993 after 136 more people, including five eminent doctors, succumbed to the infection, the bulletin said.</p>
