Imported Sputnik V Vaccine To Cost Rs 995.40 Per Shot, Made In India Dose To Be Cheaper

<p><strong>Covid Vaccine Update:</strong> India has got the third vaccine to battle the brutal second wave of Coronavirus as the centre informed that the Russian vaccine Sputnik V will be available in the market from next week and the price of the vaccine has been revealed by the manufacturer.</p> <p>Dr Reddy's Laboratories, which is manufacturing the Sputnik V vaccine in India, said, Imported coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine produced by Russia, Sputnik V, will cost <span class="webrupee">₹</span>995.40 per dose in India while the price of vaccines produced in the country may be lower."</p> <p>[tw]https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1393105543502336001[/tw]</p> <p>Meanwhile, as part of a limited pilot launch of Sputnik V in the country, the first dose of the vaccine was administered in Hyderabad, according to PTI.</p> <p>"The first consignment of imported doses of the Sputnik V vaccine landed in India on May 1, and received regulatory clearance from the Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli, on May 13, 2021," the pharma company said.</p> <p>The vaccine was given emergency use authorisation (EUA) by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) in April.</p> <p>"Further consignments of imported doses are expected over the upcoming months. Subsequently, supply of the Sputnik V vaccine will commence from Indian manufacturing partners," Dr Reddy's said.</p> <p>Reports have claimed that At 91.6 per cent, Sputnik V has a higher efficacy as compared to the two Covid vaccines that are currently being administered in India: Oxford-AstraZeneca's Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.</p>
