White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said trade advisor Peter Navarro's attack on Dr. Fauci was an 'independent action'
- White House trade advisor Peter Navarro published an op-ed Tuesday attacking Dr. Anthony Fauci, claiming that everything that the infectious disease expert has told him about the pandemic "has been wrong."
- Fauci, who also serves on the White House coronavirus task force, has become the nation's leading source for insight amid the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.
- On Wednesday, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told pool reporters that Navarro's attacks were an "independent actions" and were "not supported overtly or covertly by anybody in the West Wing."

The White House is distancing itself from trade advisor Peter Navarro's Tuesday attacks on infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci.
On Tuesday, Navarro published a scathing op-ed for USA Today on Tuesday, claiming that everything that Fauci had told him about the pandemic was "wrong" — from mask wearing and social distancing to hydroxychloroquine as a coronavirus treatment.
