PHIs withdraw from COVID-19 related activities

 

Public Health Inspectors (PHI) have refrained from COVID-19 related duties over a recent statement made by the Minister of Health.

Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi had recently told media that the PHI officers engaged in COVID-19 duties are causing inconvenience by revealing details of the latest COVID-19 detections in the country.

The PHI Union said that all members have refrained from COVID-19 related duties to protest this statement.

As the Minister considers PHI officers engaged in COVID-19 duties are causing inconvenience they have refrained from such duties from 12 noon today.

The officers will also refrain from providing any details to the media on COVID-19 detections in the future, it added. (Newswire)
