CDC director predicts this fall and winter will be 'one of the most difficult times we've experienced in American public health'
- During a Tuesday webinar, CDC director Robert Redfield said he was worried about coronavirus infections coinciding with flu cases this fall.
- "I do think the fall and the winter of 2020 and 2021 are going to be probably one of the most difficult times that we've experienced in American public health," Redfield said.
- Research suggests that colder temperatures could minimally boost coronavirus transmission, but the greater threat is hospital overcrowding during flu season.

US coronavirus cases and hospitalizations continue to soar, but experts warn that we probably haven't seen the worst of the outbreak yet.
