Civil rights icon and Georgia Congressman John Lewis will lie in state at US Capitol

• John Lewis, the civil rights icon and longterm Georgia Congressman, will lie in state at the US Capitol next week.
• Lewis died last week at the age 80 after dealing with advanced pancreatic cancer for several months. 
• House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the public will be allowed to pay respects on Monday night and all day Tuesday. 
• Efforts will be made to reduce the risk for coronavirus at public viewing including a mask requirement. 
• Lewis' family asked people not to travel to the Capitol.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The late civil rights icon and Congressman John Lewis will lie in state at the US Capitol next week.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that the public will be allowed to pay their respects to the longtime Georgia congressman Monday night and all day Tuesday.
