WHO reports highest daily spike in coronavirus cases and said the virus is a 'long way' from being over

- The world saw the highest daily spike in coronavirus cases on Wednesday since the start of the pandemic, the BBC reported.
- The majority of the new cases came from just four countries, according to Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
- Brazil alone had close to 20,000 new cases over the past 24 hours.

The World Health Organization has reported the highest daily spike in coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, the BBC reported.
"In the last 24 hours, there have been 106,000 cases reported to WHO — the most in a single day since the outbreak began," Director-General Tedros Adhanom said on Wednesday, according to the BBC.
