DU UG Admission 2021: Registration Expected To Begin On July 15, Says PC Joshi

DU UG Admission 2021: The Delhi University (DU) is expected to begin the online registration process for the DU admissions to various undergraduate courses on July 15, 2021, said DU acting Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi.

It is expected that all state boards will have declared the results of Class 12 students by July 15, officials informed PTI.

Following the CBSE and CISCE decision to cancel the class 12 board examination, various other state boards such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and many others have decided to cancel the class 12 board examinations.

In view of the cancellation of the Class 12 board examination, officials said that discussions will be conducted with the admission committee and the academic council of the varsity to formulate the process of DU admission to various UG courses.

"The admissions will be merit-based. The various boards are going to give us some marks. Then there is the CUCET exam for which we had already sent a proposal. The ministry has to take a call on whether it has to implement it or not and it will depend on the assessment of the COVID situation," Joshi was quoted by PTI in its report.

The varsity is awaiting the Education Ministery's decision on the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). PC Joshi is also a member of the CUCET committee, which had submitted its report on CUCET to the Union Education Ministry.

"If it is held we will take it as merit. If CUCET does not happen this year as the board exams, we will take the board exam evaluation. The various boards will definitely choose some mature method of evaluation. On the basis of those, we will prepare our merit list accordingly," he added. However, the acting VC of DU also said that the chances of CUCET being conducted this year are low due to the rising number of covid-19 cases across the country.

"There are strong chances that we might start registration by July 15 if all the boards cancel their exams," he further added.

Note: Candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website of the varsity at du.ac.in regularly for the latest updates regarding the DU UG Admission 2021.

(With inputs from PTI)
