Today’s outlook: AQ Khan heads to court, Buzdar to commission

Here are some of the news stories we are expecting to follow today (Wednesday):

  • The Supreme Court has summoned nuclear physicist Dr Abdul Qadir Khan, the founder of the uranium enrichment programme for Pakistan’s atomic bomb project.
  • Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will record his statements before the Sugar Inquiry Commission formed to investigate the sugar crisis in the country. He’ll visit the commission at 2pm.
  • Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser have recovered from COVID-19. Both have announced that they’ll donate their plasma for the treatment of other coronavirus patients.
  • The Sindh government has sent its COVID-19 Relief Bill 2020 to Governor Imran Ismail once again. The governor had previously rejected it, saying the provincial government made some decisions that are beyond its authority accorded by the Constitution.
  • Students in Sindh studying from grades one till eight will be promoted to the next class without appearing in any examinations, Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced on Tuesday.
