India Records 10,549 Coronavirus Cases In Last 24 Hrs As Infections In Kerala Surge

<p><strong>New Delhi:&nbsp;</strong>India has reported a surge in Coronavirus cases as the country registered more than 10,000 cases on Friday. India has registered 10,549 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The country recorded 488 deaths due to Covid and 9,868 recoveries in the last 24 hours.</p> <p>The active caseload now stands at 1,10,133, informed the Union Health Ministry.</p> <p>The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 49 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 152 consecutive days now.<br /><br />The active cases comprise 0.32 per cent of the total infections while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.33 per cent, the health ministry said.<br /><br />An increase of 193 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.</p> <h3><strong>Kerala</strong></h3> <p>Registering a spike in Covid cases, Kerala on Thursday recorded 5,987 fresh COVID-19 infections and 384 fatalities. The state's total caseload is now at 51,08,112.<br /><br />With 5,094 more people recovering from the virus since Tuesday, the total recoveries reached 50,28,752 and the active cases touched 51,804,according to a PTI report.<br /><br />Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest with 963 cases followed by Thiruvananthapuram 863 and Kozhikode 664.<br /><br />Of the 384 deaths, 56 were reported over the last few days and 328 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release said.<br /><br />As many as 66,165 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said</p>
