Batticaloa children’s home isolated after 21 inmates test positive for COVID-19
A children’s home at Kaluthavalai was isolated yesterday after 21 inmates tested positive for COVID-19. Isolation measures were taken after several children from the home were subjected to PCR tests at the Kaluwanchikudy Base Hospital, which they visited after developing fever.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in the Eastern Province are on the rise, with 168 people testing positive for the virus in the past 24 hours. Fifty-six cases were reported from Kalmunai, while 56 were reported from Batticaloa. Ampara reported 30 cases yesterday, while Trincomalee reported 26. Batticaloa District Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Nagalingam Mayooran urged the public to follow all health regulations strictly, as the Delta Variant is more contagious.
