Coronavirus Cases Today: India Reports 84,332 New Infections At 70-Day Low Along With 4,002 Fatalities

With this, the recovery rate increased to 95.07 percent.&nbsp;</p> <p>Weekly Positivity Rate dropped to less than 5 percent, currently at 4.94 percent. The daily positivity rate is at 4.39 percent, less than 10 percent for 19 consecutive days.</p> <ul> <li><strong>Total Covid Cases:</strong> 2,93,59,155</li> <li><strong>Total Discharged:</strong> 2,79,11,384</li> <li><strong>Total Active Cases:</strong> 10,80,690</li> <li><strong>Total Deaths-</strong> 3,67,0 81</li> </ul> <p>Testing capacity has been substantially ramped up with 37.62 crore total tests conducted. 24.96 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.</p> <p>In a concerning development, Maharashtra's daily Covid-19 deaths shot up to a new peak, above the 2,000 level, while new infections remained above the 11,000 mark for the second consecutive day, health officials said on Friday.</p> <p>Against 1,915 deaths declared on Thursday, the state now revealed a whopping 2,619 fatalities (comprising 406 new and 2,213 earlier deaths), taking the toll to 106,367.</p> <p>The number of fresh cases dropped from 12,207 on Thursday to 11,766, to send the tally to 58,87,853.</p> <p>In Mumbai, for the 15th consecutive day, the new infections remained below the 1,000 level, but went up from 655 on Thursday to 721, taking the city tally to 714,216. Deaths went up from 22 a day earlier to 24, to take total fatalities in the country's commercial capital to 15,079.</p> <p>The number of active cases rose from 160,693 to 161,704, while 8,104 fully cured patients returned home, taking the total to 56,16,857, while the recovery rate dropped from 95.45 percent to 95.04 percent.</p> <p>On the other hand, Delhi reported 238 new Covid cases and 24 deaths in the last 24 hours.&nbsp;The daily positivity rate was at 0.31 percent, according to the health bulletin.</p> <p>Delhi has a total of 3,922 active cases, out of which 1,238 are in home isolation.&nbsp;A total of 504 people recovered in the same period, taking the total so far to 14,01,977.</p> <p>With the new cases and fatalities, the cumulative tally has gone up to 14,30,671, while the toll has risen to 24,772.</p> <p>For the first time in 2 months, the Covid test positivity rate declined below 5 percent in a day across Karnataka, while the case fatality rate was up at 1.92 percent on Thursday, said the state health bulletin on Friday.</p> <p>"Positivity rate declined to 4.86 percent on Thursday from 6.58 percent on Wednesday across the state," said the bulletin.</p> <p>With 159 patients, including 48 in Bengaluru succumbing to the infection across the state, the case fatality rate rose marginally to 1.92 percent on Thursday from 1.75 percent on Wednesday.</p> <p>The state's death toll rose to 32,644 and the city's toll to 15,263 since the pandemic broke out in mid-March a year ago.</p> <p>Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday announced the extension of the lockdown by another week till June 21 with some relaxation that includes the opening of liquor shops in 27 districts.</p> <p>The current lockdown comes to an end on June 14.</p> <p><em>(With Agency Inputs)</em></p>
