Update: 80-year old returnee from Australia who escaped hospital and quarantine, found from Kegalle.

80-year old female returnee from Australia, who escaped hospital after being admitted from her quarantine facility for a mental illness, has been found and taken to custody by health authorities.

Upon returning to Sri Lanka, she was in quarantine in a hotel in Beruwala and subsequently admitted to Nagoda hospital for treatment for a mental illness of hers. She was found to have escaped the hospital since 28th morning.

It has been revealed through investigations that the woman had traveled to Kegalle from Kalutara by bus. After she got off from the bus in Kegalle, she has entered a shop for safety as she was followed by an unknown person.

Upon receiving information about the woman, health authorities had taken her into their custody and have sent her for further medical treatment.

She has been subjected to PCR test, and 07 employees of the shop she entered into have been ordered for self isolation until the result of the PCR test is out.

The shop has been subjected to complete disinfection and it is reported that it was open yesterday (29th) with the services provided by temporary employees. (NewsWire)
