PCB faces bio-security hurdles in resuming training for England tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing bio-security hurdles ahead of resuming training for its upcoming tour of England, ESPNcricinfo has reported.

The side are to play a three-match Test series before squaring off in the same number of T20Is.

According to reports, the lodging facilities at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore has 21 rooms available while 40 rooms would be required for social distancing protocols to be implemented properly.

The travel restrictions imposed by governments across the world against the coronavirus may also prove to be a hurdle in the way of preparing the players for the tour. Bowling coach Waqar Younis is residing in Australia whereas physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon is living in South Africa.

A list of probables for the tour has been prepared by the board’s selection committee but only those players will be allowed to train which have been tested negative for the disease.

Head of PCB medical panel Dr Sohail Saleem is in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to finalise the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding the training camps.

The safety guidelines set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) have been made a part of the plans.
