India's First 2 Cases Of Omicron Variant In Karnataka. CM Bommai To Hold High-Level Meeting Today

<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai will hold a high-level meeting in Bengaluru today after two cases of the Omicron variant were reported in the state. He said that contact tracing of both the patients was being conducted and he will also speak to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">We are conducting contact tracing. I will be holding a meeting with health experts at 1 pm today. I have spoken to Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, he will get back to me with some guidelines</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">" said Karnataka Chief Minister.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The CM said that while the two cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in Karnataka, the lab report from National Centre for Biological Sciences has not officially reached the state government yet.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> "We do not have much details, except for samples and the age of the two persons who tested positive for the new variant. Bommai also said that he has asked the state health minister and the chief secretary to collect more information.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He said that the state government is already tracking and monitoring the international passengers. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Our duty is to see that not only these two persons but track and trace such strains wherever they are found and their contacts," he said, as reported by PTI.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Thursday, Bommai met Mandaviya regarding the new variant and discussed controlling measures for Covid-19 and the new variant. He also discussed inoculating the health workers with the Covid-19 booster dose.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Two cases of Covid 19 with the Omicron variant were reported from Karnataka on Thursday. Two men aged 66 years and 46 years were tested positive with the new variant. A Central Government official said that both the patients have not been noted with severe symptoms.</span></p>
