India Records 9,765 Covid Cases & 477 Deaths In Last 24 Hrs, Active Cases Remain Below 1 Lakh

<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> India has been successful to maintain the daily Covid surge below 10,000 for another day as the country reported 9,765 new cases in the last 24 hours.&nbsp; 477 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours and the country witnessed 8,548 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health&nbsp; Ministery.</p> <p>The country's active caseload currently stands at 99,763. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.29%, and are the lowest since March 2020.</p> <p>The recovery rate of the country is currently at 98.35%.</p> <h3><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Omicron scare in India</strong></span></h3> <p>While the Omicron variant of Covid 19 continues to raise alarm in the country, six people who flew into Delhi from 'at-risk countries, including the UK and the Netherlands, on Wednesday have been admitted to the Lok Nayak Hospital after four of them tested positive for COVID-19 and two showed symptoms, reported PTI.<br /><br />Their samples have been sent to the National Centre for Disease Control for genome sequencing to ascertain if they have the new variant, Omicron<br /><br />All six people have been admitted to the LNJP Hospital, where a dedicated ward has been set up for isolating and treating such patients, the officials added.<br /><br />"Four flights originating from Amsterdam and London and carrying 1,013 passengers landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport between 12 night and 6 am. Of these passengers, four have tested positive," a source said.<br /><br />Three patients travelled on a flight from Amsterdam that carried 372 people. The fourth patient travelled with 176 others on a flight from London. All are Indian nationals, he added.<br /><br />An official at the LNJP Hospital said to PTI that two more travellers who tested negative but have Covid-like symptoms have been brought to the hospital.<br /><br />A total of six patients are in the hospital at present, he said.</p>
