New Delhi: The United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention issued a ‘Level One’ Covid-19 notice for Americans travelling to India. The notice states that the risk of contracting the infection is lower if the individual is fully vaccinated.

The notice has been issued for both India and Pakistan, reported PTI. It states, “Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) authorised vaccine.”

The notice has come in the backdrop of India ending quarantine terms for foreign travellers and getting validation for the Indian vaccine certificate.

The US state department has also issued level two and three advisories for travellers, urging them to reconsider travelling to Pakistan due to terrorism and sectarian violence. For those travelling to India, caution is advised due to crime and terrorism.

The advisory also suggested visitors avoid visiting Jammu and Kashmir due to “civil unrest” and within 10 kilometres of the India-Pakistan border due to the risk of potential armed conflict.

“Indian authorities report rape is one of the fastest-growing crimes in India. Violent crimes, such as sexual assault, has occurred at tourist sites and in other locations,” it stated.

The American travellers visiting Pakistan were advised to avoid Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) citing the risk of kidnapping and terrorism.

“Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, military installations, airports, universities, tourist locations, schools, hospitals, places of worship, and government facilities,” it said.

The advisory also mentioned that US diplomats and diplomatic facilities have been attacked in Pakistan earlier.
