68% Say Yes To Extending Lockdown/Curfew By At Least A Week: Survey

<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong>The national capital Delhi has been reporting about 26,000 cases on daily basis and 80% of the hospitals in the city have only few hours of oxygen left. On Saturday, the capital report 348 deaths in the last 24 hours. These numbers are shocking considering Delhi was doing fairly well in 2020 when the novel Coronavirus first hit.&nbsp;</p> <p>The second wave has really put the healthcare system in the country under a lot of pressure putting it at the brink of collapse. About 68% of respondents to a survey has said that the lockdown/curfew should be extended by at least a week whereas 48% say that it should be a two week lockdown.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>ALSO READ: <span style="color: #f80707;"><a style="color: #f80707;" href="https://ift.tt/3sKQyC8 NV Ramana Sworn-In As 48th Chief Justice Of India By President Ram Nath Kovind</a></span></strong></p> <p>Last Monday, Delhi went under a lockdown in order to curb the influx of cases which had brought the city's healthcare system to the point of collapse and in order to stabalize it Delhi CM imposed a lockdown. Now the residents feel that it should be extended.&nbsp;</p> <p>In a survey conducted by LocalCircles, which recieved 7,823 responses asked residents of Delhi on how they would like to see the lockdown in the city post April 26 or whether the lockdown should end&nbsp; 28% residents said &ldquo;extend it by 3 weeks&rdquo;, 20% said &ldquo;extend it by 2 weeks&rdquo;, and another 20% said &ldquo;extend it by 1 week&rdquo;. There were only 9% voting for &ldquo;end the lockdown/curfew and remove all restrictions&rdquo;, while 16% said &ldquo;end the lockdown/curfew and just impose night curfew&rdquo;, and 7% couldn&rsquo;t say. The findings of the poll indicate that 68% of residents of Delhi are in favour of extending lockdown/curfew by atleast 1 week as the city faces its biggest health emergency crisis.</p> <p><br /><img src="https://ift.tt/3tSYUc8" width="620" height="496" /></p> <p>With rising cases, shortages of oxygen, and people seeing their contacts in social networks struggling to find hospital and ICU beds, ventilators, oxygen, remdesivir drug, etc., people are beginning to understand the gravity of the situation.</p> <p><br /><img src="https://ift.tt/3nfHp3c" width="618" height="494" /></p> <p>As a result, 68% residents of Delhi who participated in the survey have voted in favour of a for lockdown/curfew for at least 1 week suggesting that the percentage of residents of Delhi supporting lockdown has increased by 4-fold in 1 month.</p>
