Covid19SL : 7 updates on the current situation

  • The Covid-19 patients, reported at present are not random cases but in someway linked to the Minuwangoda cluster – Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi
  • 6 villages in the Rambukkana area were locked down, following the detection of two COVID -19 patients yesterday (16).
  • Over 100 PCR tests were carried out at the Colombo Municipal Council after CMC worker tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Colombo Mayoress Rosi Senanayake also tested negative.
  • 9415 are still under quarantine at 86 centres belonging to the tri-forces as at this morning, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said.
  • 36 arrested for violating curfew regulations yesterday.  203 persons arrested thus far in total, 40 vehicles seized- Police.
  • The Health Promotion Bureau stated that 8,589 PCR tests were carried out yesterday (16) to identify COVID-19 infected persons. So far, a total of 374, 448 PCR tests have been conducted island wide.
  • Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that shops, restaurants and pharmacies will not be permitted to open today (17) and tomorrow (19) in areas where curfew has been imposed.
