Covid19 : Record 90,000 patients reported in a day in India.

With a record jump of 90,600 cases in the last 24 hours, the caseload from coronavirus reached 4,110,839 in India on Sunday.
The death toll from the infection climbed to 70,679.
India is now the country with the highest number of daily cases ahead of both US and Brazil.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected Indian state by the deadly pandemic with over 19,000 new cases.
The jump to more than 4 million cases comes only 13 days after India reached 3 million cases, accelerating sharply from the more than 100 days it took to increase by the previous 1 million.
Meanwhile, Russia is in close dialogue with the Indian government and the leading drug manufacturers of India regarding the localisation of production of the Sputnik V vaccine in India.
The global tally from the viral infection is at 27,043,430 with the United States being worst-hot. The global death toll from the pandemic is at 882,988.

“There is a behavioural fatigue now setting in,” said Dr SP Kalantri, the director of a hospital in the village of Sevagram.

He said the past few weeks had driven home the point that the virus had moved from India’s cities to its villages.

“The worst is yet to come,” said Kalantri. “There is no light at the end of the tunnel.”

Even as testing in India has increased to more than a million a day, a growing reliance on screening for antigens or viral proteins is creating more problems.

These tests are cheaper and yield faster results but are not as accurate. The danger is that the tests may falsely clear many who are infected with COVID-19. (With inputs from Aljazeera)
