  • Conservative media personality Dan Bongino has been permanently banned from YouTube.
  • Bongino's account was recently suspended and de-monetized after he falsely claimed masks are useless in mitigating COVID-19.
  • YouTube said Bongino was permanently barred after posting to the platform while his account was suspended.

YouTube permanently banned right-wing commentator Dan Bongino from its platform for posting content while his account was suspended, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to The Daily Beast on Wednesday.

The talk radio and Fox News host's account was suspended and de-monetized on January 14 after Bongino falsely claimed in a video that masks are "useless" in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

"We terminated Dan Bongino's channels for circumventing our Terms of Service by posting a video while there was an active strike and suspension associated with the account," the YouTube spokesperson told The Daily Beast. "When a channel receives a strike, it is against our Terms of Service to post content or use another channel to circumvent the suspension. If a channel is terminated, the uploader is unable to use, own or create any other YouTube channels."

Bongino also quit Twitter last year, leaving behind his 2.8 million followers after receiving a 12-hour suspension that came on the heels of former President Donald Trump's ban from the site last year.

As for other platforms, Bongino uses the MAGA-friendly site Parler and is still on Facebook, remaining one of the top drivers of engagement on the social network.

Bongino took over right-wing talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh's syndicated show after Limbaugh's death last year. Since taking the job, Bongino has threatened to quit over the vaccine mandate implemented by the show's parent company, Cumulus Media.

Over the course of the Trump presidency, Bongino ascended the ranks of Fox News and eventually landed his own Saturday show, "Unfiltered with Dan Bongino," and then a streaming show on Fox Nation, "Canceled in the USA."

Neither Bongino nor Fox News immediately responded to Insider's request for comment.
