These 10 cities have seen the hottest crypto-hiring market in 2021
- Cities across the country are tapping into their pools of cryptocurrency talent.
- San Francisco, Austin, and New York have hired the most crypto-related workers, Bloomberg reported.
- Mid-size cities in Oregon, Colorado, and Utah, were also among the top 10 cities adding crypto jobs.
Firms across the US are quickly hiring cryptocurrency experts to fill the ranks as blockchain technology becomes more widely adopted.
According to LinkedIn data reported on by Bloomberg, the top three cities hiring for crypto jobs were, unsurprisingly, San Francisco, Austin, and New York.
San Francisco hired four crypto experts per 100,000 LinkedIn members, the data show. Austin and New York each hired about three per 100,000.
More surprisingly, other mid- to large-size cities also ranked among the top 10, according to the Bloomberg chart.
Miami-Fort Lauderdale, a city where many Wall Street workers have fled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, came in fourth place. The remaining six of the top 10 were, in order: Denver, Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, Salt Lake City, Portland, and Rochester and Albany, New York.
Each hired about two crypto experts per 100,000 LinkedIn members. LinkedIn did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment on the data.
According to the Bloomberg report, LinkedIn has about the same number of users as the US has workers. Of 5,000 crypto hires since 2019, LinkedIn told the news outlet that cryptocurrency trader, bitcoin miner, and blockchain developer, specialist, or consultant were the most common titles.
Big banks have been among those competing for crypto talent. A recent report from Revelio showed financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo, added 1,000 new hires with crypto vocabulary in their job description.
