What's going on today:
- Workers woes. Almost half of workers say that remote work torpedoed their career progression. 48% of workers feel that a lack of face time with employers has hindered their career progression. The drawbacks of remote work are contributing to the "Great Resignation."
- This is a job for TikTok. Chinese TikTokers are visiting Evergrande sites with drones to investigate if the company is resuming construction on its real estate projects. TikTokers recorded themselves visiting various construction sites, filming with drones, and interviewing security staff.
- Vote of no confidence. Stephanie Grisham said she didn't vote for Trump in 2020, despite working for Melania Trump in the East Wing at the time. Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham told CNN's Jake Tapper that she wished there had been a third candidate to vote for in the 2020 election.
- A Hail Mary play. Biden says it's "a real possibility" that Democrats could blow a one-time hole in filibuster to prevent disastrous debt default. It wasn't immediately clear if Manchin and Sinema would be swayed by the threat of economic catastrophe to abandon their attachment to the filibuster
- Graham gets bashed. Lindsey Graham was booed by a Republican crowd after he suggested they consider getting vaccinated. Graham received his vaccine in December and credited the shot with milder side effects when he got a breakthrough case of COVID-19 this summer.
