Kumbh Mela Fake Covid Testing Scam: 2 Officials Suspended As Uttarakhand CM Takes Strict Action

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Kumbh Mela 2021:</strong> The Uttarakhand government has started taking action against the accused in the fake COVID-19 test results scam. Dhami government has suspended two officials for their involvement in the fake COVID-19 testing scam which happened during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar in April, this year.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">On the orders of state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Medical and Health Officer Dr. Arjun Singh Sengar and then Medical and Health Incharge Dr. NK Tyagi were suspended.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Action Taken On Investigation Committee Recommendation:</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The action has been taken on the basis of the recommendations provided by an investigation committee constituted by the District Collector of Haridwar to probe the fake testing scam.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">"Corruption and negligence would not be tolerated at any level. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in connection with the scam." Dhami said.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The inquiry committee found that the authorities had collaborated with companies involved in conducting fake rapid antigen tests during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Report Submitted On Aug 16:</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The committee has recommended disciplinary action against the accused medical personnel for negligence and financial loss to the state.
