45 COVID-19 bodies buried at Oddamavadi
A total of 45 COVID-19 infected bodies have been buried at Oddamavadi area by Sunday (14) since the Gazette notification permitting the burial was issued on February 25, Medical Technical Services Director, Dr. Anwar Hamdani said.
“Of them, 27 are males and 18 are females. Accordingly, all the COVID-19 infected bodies that were kept in freezers for months have been buried by now,” he said.
“The burial site is allocated not only for Muslims and any person’s body could be buried in this area as per their will,” Dr. Hamdani said.
The body of a 60-year-old Catholic lady had also been buried at the premises on Sunday. According to Dr. Hamdani, inspections are currently being carried out by the authorities to look for more available lands that could be used for the COVID-19 burials.
