Maharashtra Records Over 8000 Covid Cases For Second Consecutive Day, Mumbai Witnesses Biggest Jump

<p><span>More than eight thousand new cases of coronavirus were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday for the second consecutive day. Maharashtra has the highest number of new covid infections. In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra recorded 8,702 new Covid cases. Earlier on Wednesday, 8,807 new cases were reported in the state.&nbsp;</span></p> <p>The total number of cases in Maharashtra has reached 21,29,821. Due to the death of 56 more patients in the last 24 hrs,&nbsp; the fatality count in the state increased to 51,993. A total of 3,744 patients were discharged after a day's recovery in the state, Taking the number of people who have been cured to 20,12,367. The number of active cases in Maharashtra is 64,260.</p> <p>Of these, Mumbai saw the biggest jump of more than 1,100 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest in three months.</p> <p>Registering a four-month high on Wednesday, Maharashtra reported 8,807 cases. On October 21 last year, it had reported 8,142 cases, followed by a steady decline in the number of daily cases. Though the virus was concentrated only in the Vidarbha region, comprising 11 districts of Akola, Amravati, Buldana, Yavatmal, Washim, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gonda, Nagpur, and Wardha, the rise has now spread to Mumbai and Pune as well.</p> <h3><strong>19 people infected in Washim's temple</strong></h3> <p>19 people were found infected <span>with the coronavirus on Thursday, including one of the priest of the temple in Washim district and 18 others. Two days ago, minister Sanjay Rathore and a large number of his supporters came to the temple. The minister, who is facing charges in the death of a young woman in Pune, on Tuesday faced criticism for gathering crowds at the Pohradevi temple amid growing cases of coronavirus in the state.</span></p> <p>Rathore did not appear in public for two weeks after a 23-year-old woman named him in a suicide case under suspicious circumstances, went to Pohradevi Jagdamba temple on Tuesday with a large number of supporters.</p>
