Chinese City Shuts Down Over New Covid-19 Cases; Whistleblower Claims China Deliberately Spread Virus

<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> In the latest report from the epicenter of Covid-19, another city in northeast China is reportedly under a new coronavirus outbreak.</p> <p>Officials in Harbin city have said that health experts have been asked to move to the city to control the outbreak, according to the news agency AP.</p> <p>The city of 9.5 million people has reported three cases on Wednesday, a day after discovering the first case of community transmission.</p> <p><strong>READ: <a href="https://ift.tt/3Aw9pFv Records 26,964 Coronavirus Cases In Last 24 Hrs, R-Value Dips Below 1</a></strong></p> <p>As the initial reports came in, authorities conducted mass testing and also closed schools. The city also ordered businesses like Mahjong parlors, cinemas and gyms to shut.</p> <p>City authorities say residents must display a negative virus test to be able to leave for only essential travel. Otherwise, people are being told to stay home, according to the agency.</p> <p>China has been able to thwart the virus from spreading within its borders by adopting costly and strict measures including lockdowns and mass testing.</p> <p>Meanwhile, a whistleblower has revealed China deliberately spread Covid at a military tournament two months before the rest of the world knew about the deadly virus, according to a report in DailyMail.</p> <p>As per the sensational claims by ex-Chinese Communist Party insider Wei Jingsheng, the World Military Games in October 2019 may have been the first superspreader event.</p> <p>The international tournament for military athletes was held in the epicenter of Covid-19 at Wuhan, two months before China notified the World Health Organisation about its first cases.</p> <p>While claiming about the super spreader event, Jingsheng can&rsquo;t be a mere coincidence that some of the 9,000 international athletes who gathered for the event reportedly became sick with a mystery illness.</p> <p>'I thought the Chinese government would take this opportunity to spread the virus during the Military Games, as many foreigners would show up there,' he told the new Sky News documentary What Really Happened in Wuhan.</p> <p>The whistleblower claimed he had heard of the Chinese government carrying out an 'unusual exercise' during the games.</p>
