Second Dose Of Covid Vaccines To Be Given From Today As India's Inoculation Drive Completes 28 Days
<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> The second dose of the Coronavirus vaccines is being administered from today to beneficiaries who received the first shot on Day 1 of the inoculation drive. <strong>ALSO READ |<span style="color: #e03e2d;"><a style="color: #e03e2d;" href="https://ift.tt/2NnYHxm"> Anand Mahindra's Hilarious 'Advertising Brief' For Adar Poonawalla Gives You The Best Idea For Valentine's Day Gift</a></span></strong></p> <p>The Coronavirus vaccine drive had begun on January 16 after the approval of Covishield and Covaxin, the second needs to be taken 28 days after the first one. AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria and NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul had received the vaccine shot on the first day and are expected to receive the second one soon.</p> <p>Meanwhile, India's efforts and contribution in terms of Coronavirus vaccination is being recognised globally as millions of free doses have been sent to help other countries. Recently, PM Narendra Modi had tweeted to inform about his conversation with Candian PM Justin Trudeau over the same. </p> <p>"Assured him that India would do its best to facilitate supplies of Covid vaccines sought by Canada," he wrote.</p> <p>According to the Health Ministry, 77.66 lakh beneficiaries have been vaccinated against Covid-19.</p> <p>[tw]https://twitter.com/MoHFW_INDIA/status/1360248722580377600[/tw]</p> <p>"77,66,319 beneficiaries have been vaccinated through 1,63,587 sessions, as per the provisional report till 6 pm today," the statement reads. These include 58,65,813 Health Care Workers (58.9%) and 19,00,506 Front Line Workers (21.2%).</p> <p>Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of people vaccinated at 8,31,556, followed by Gujarat (6,61,508) and Maharashtra (6,33,519),</p> <p>In terms of the percentage of registered health care workers who have been vaccinated, Bihar stands highest at 80.2%, followed by Tripura (78.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (75.8%).</p>
