COVID-19 cases in SP rises to 1,320
The number of COVID-infected patients in the Southern Province has increased to 1,320 by Sunday (9), said the Coordinating Officer of the Southern Province COVID Information Centre Coordinating Officer, Chamara Mahagamage said.
By now, 810 infected patients have recovered and gone home. As of Sunday (9), 708 Corona-infected patients have been reported from the Galle District and 464 of them have recovered. A total of 480 Corona-infected patients have been reported in the Matara District and 277 of them have been cured and returned home. The number of infected patients in the Hambantota District is 132 and 64 of them have recovered, the Coordinating officer further said.
So far, 2,349 persons belonging to 1,274 families in the Southern Province have been referred for quarantine. 1,323 persons belonging to 553 families in the Galle District, 1,327 persons belonging to 369 families in the Matara District and 699 persons belonging to 352 families in the Hambantota District are being quarantined, he further stated.
