Dr. Fauci says people should 'just forget about shaking hands' even after the coronavirus threat is over

  • "As a society, just forget about shaking hands," Fauci said. "We don't need to shake hands. We've got to break that custom."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who is a leading member of the White House's coronavirus task force, said that the tradition of shaking hands may need to come to an end even after the coronavirus pandemic is under control. 

Fauci spoke to Scott Thuman, Sinclair Broadcast Group's chief political correspondent, on Tuesday and said the greeting may be outdated in the wake of the infectious disease spread.
